Grand River Marsh Wildlife Area

A short drive from Adeline’s is the Grand Reiver State Wildlife Area that hosts the Grand River Marsh Wildlife Area.

Grand River Marsh Wildlife Area

The Grand River Marsh Wildlife Area includes a 1446 acre lake located in Green Lake, Marquette Counties. It has a maximum depth of 7 feet. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fish include Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Walleye.

The low, flat basins are vegetated with a mosaic of complex natural communities, including sedge meadow, wet prairie, and open bog.

Grand River Marsh Wildlife Area bird watching

The Grand River Marsh SWA is a 10,000-acre complex of marsh, grassland, oak savanna, river, and wood lots.

There are many trails for bird watching and hiking and three boat landings for your canoe or kayak.

The extensive marshes draw in herons, Osprey, and the Double-crested Cormorant. The Fountain Creek Wet Prairie SNA is a large, low-lying grassland in the basin of the marsh. Wet prairie is uncommon and characterized by prairie cordgrass, blue-joint grass, and mountain mint. The property’s bird list includes Sandhill Crane, Northern Harrier, Sedge Wren, Horned Lark, and Bobolink.

We look forward to being part of your next Nature Adventure and remember Adeline’s has ample parking for canoe and kayak trailers.
